Took an active part against the King and was one of the first Barons after the battle of Lewes in 1264 to be summoned to the Parliament, as Baron Roos of Belvoir Castle, which was called by the Baron's in the king's name.

Sole heiress to the Surety, William D'Albini. This great heiress was a ward of the king and, 17 May 1244, Bernard de Savoy and Hugh Gifford were commanded to deliver her to her husband Robert de Roos, grandson of the Surety of that name. "But not," says Dugdale, "without a round of compensation, for there appears that both he and his wife in the 32nd of King Henry III where debtors to the king --- , of which sum the king was pleased to accept 200 marks a year until it should be paid."
