178. Colonel Uri Newcomb

Farmer. Colonel in state Militia.

184. Isaac Hanson

Isaac was a Quaker, and his wife Mariah Montgomery was a Methodist. Isaac's mother, Susannah, donated land for the Mt. Horeb Church.

Isaac was disowned from the Quaker Church because wife Mariah was a Methodist.

185. Mariah Montgomery

The obituary of James W. Hanson, Mariah Montgomery's grandson, states that Hanson was a descendant of Revolutionary War General Richard Montgomery, the first American General killed in the Revolutionary War while leading the unsuccessful attack on Quebec. If James W. Hanson's obituary was correct, Mariah Montgomery could have been a daughter of an illegitimate son of General Montgomery. No records found to substantiate this.

An Elizabeth Montgomery was shown in the 1820 census of Wayne Township, Belmont Co. Ohio living next to Isaac Hanson (and Mariah, as only heads of households were shown.)
This Elizabeth could have been Mariah's mother, but no actual proof. I did not find Elizabeth in later census, so she either died, moved or acquired a spouse.

186. James De Lisle

When James De Lisle wooed Peninah Doudna, a member of the Quaker Church, she would lose her "birthright" in the church if she married him. She agree to do so if he would drop the "De" for his name, which directly connected him with the French. Thus he was married as James Lisle and the Lisle family was honorably established in America.

His mother married George Hall after James's father died, and James was adopted by George Hall.
